About me – and News/Updates!

Check out this site for my portfolio of finished artwork – and follow my Facebook page @AngelaJoyArt where I share current posts and videos of new pieces I have in process!

Bio/ About Me: I am an acrylic artist in Berea, KY, a beautiful, rural, artsy town where my husband and I live with two Yorkie pups. I grew up in TN and graduated in 2005 from Berea College. I work for Fahe, a nonprofit that serves people and communities across Appalachia. I began painting as a hobby in April 2021, and fell in love with capturing the color and detail of rural landscapes. I’m mostly self-taught, and in 2022 I completed a 6wk beginner painting class at UK’s Fine Arts Institute.
I’ve participated in local community art exhibits, and also had my artwork selected for two different exhibits that have been displayed at the KY Capitol Building! The Team Kentucky Gallery’s Fall 2023 exhibit was on display in the Capitol June – Dec 2023, and the 2024 Governor’s Derby Exhibit is up from May 3 – July 1, 2024 in the KY Capitol Rotunda.
Keep an eye on my AngelaJoyArt Facebook page for current artwork I have in process, along with occasional giveaways and other fun updates!

May 2024:
Two of my paintings are now on display in the lobby at Fahe‘s office building in Berea (Fahe is the nonprofit I work for). The paintings are Appalachian Wonder (previously in the Fall 2023 Team KY Gallery exhibit at the KY Capitol), and the large (unnamed) painting I completed during my 6 wk class at UK’s Fine Arts Institute in 2022. It’s been great to get to share these pieces with my coworkers and have my artwork on display in such a beautiful, large space!

January 2023:
The artist reception at the KY Capitol was amazing! Thank you to #TeamKentuckyGallery for the opportunity to participate in the Fall 2023 exhibition at the Kentucky Capitol Building! And to KY Governor Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear for supporting #Kentuckyartists!

June 2023 News:
My acrylic painting Appalachian Wonder was included in the Fall 2023 Team Kentucky Gallery exhibit! The exhibit was at the Kentucky Capitol July – Dec 2023.

  1. Wow! Like the them each one but the two layered hills ones really appeal most. They remind me if the views from the web cameras at the Smokies; Look Rock Tower, Newfound Gap and Clingman’s Dome. You might want to check then out. The sunset behind the pines looks like the Georgia Piedmont.

    1. Thank you! It has been wonderful to discover this new layer of what I can do, over the past two years working on things as I can. Definitely a good feeling to grow and keep learning new things!
